I just read a news article and saw confirmation on CBC that Al Gore is coming to Montreal, Canada this weekend April 4-6, 2008 to indoctrinate a new legion of climate faithful, some 200 people will join the coveted environmental "World According to Gore" rolls. First Al Gore is not a teacher, he is a preacher, he is training people to give a science based presentation without any real understanding of the science as clearly pointed out by the alarming numbers of errors in his movie, and task them with "finding any available venue" from which to "spread the word". I seem to remember similar organizations based on the teaching of a single point of truth that participated in this sort of indoctrination of the chosen into the ranks of the faithful, then sent them out into the world to convert as many as they could. They gave rise to the almost as ridiculous business of rescuing and deprogramming people at the behest of relatives, you would know them as cults. Are we heading down this well understood road to that place where adoring followers abandon their lives and families to spread the glorious gospel of climate change?
What Does it Take to Be Amongst the Chosen?
To be awarded the honour of being trained by former Vice President turned Nobel Laureate Al Gore there were some requirements from the organizer's web site here;
200 Canadians from a variety of backgrounds will be invited to attend the training. Our goal is to train the "unusual suspects": people who can in turn reach those who would not traditionally be hearing the call to action against climate change. Ideal applicants will possess some of the following characteristics:
- You can reach a new, unique or unusual demographic (such as sporting, cultural and/or faith-based communities)
- You speak multiple languages
- You can address industrial, professional and/or corporate audiences
- You possess other important qualities that will maximize your impact and outreach as a presenter
Please highlight your experience and describe your network(s) in your application. We are also taking into consideration each applicant's public speaking experience and leadership within their community, field and/or profession.
This can be easily translated into non-activists need not apply, and you must be able to target the "heretics and deniers". Plus you have to pay your own way to the conference, which is being paid for in part from tax-payer dollars by the Government of Quebec who is a sponsor, I love my country as a source for ridiculous decisions. After the weekend long brain-washing, complete with a climate comedy show, you are tasked with;

A New Messenger of Change - Black Robe Not Included
Newly anointed faithful will return home and repeat the message of their leader, the Earth is dying and you non-believers are killing it. I do not speak for anyone but myself but I will say a little prayer for these new missionaries. We know from history that many missionaries wound up in hostile places and many were killed outright in an attempt by leaders to protect thousands of years of culture, a battle that entire races of man lost as the missionaries without exception targeted the young with their message of the one true God. Something that made the world a much less diverse place and was a primary form of imperialism and world conquest under the banner of the church. Just like today and the message of climate change, by spreading missionaries throughout the world the heathens can be converted and the door opened for peaceful annexation under one banner, the word of the climate faithful shall illuminate the darkest nights of man and bring about the redemption of the damned.
I do not even suggest that these people will be killed in the literal sense, but they may find that preaching to the unconverted will be much harder then their illustrious leader's role of teaching the faithful. The doubters are a curious lot and many are going to much better informed than the new children of climate change, they may find themselves having to rely on their vast reserves of faith and good earplugs to make it thorough their presentations as experienced last year by Mr. Gore at Concordia University. I have to ask myself and you, given the parallels described here how conceivable is it that world conquest in on the minds of the climate changers?
