Well I was going to review the Green Shift Plan but there is nothing in the Liberal documentation to comment on. Basically they referenced British Columbia's Carbon tax as a model and anyone who has been here before has read my review of that plan. So instead I am going to recap some of the headlines for this week so you can get a feel for Canadian politics in action.

Harper says pooping puffin was tasteless

Conservative attack site featured a puffin flying above Liberal leader Stephane Dion and dropping a bomb on the politician.

Taliban urges Next PM to Pull Troops

The Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan seem to think they can direct the election...

Taliban says increase in attacks because of election

Through violent means if necessary.. and it worked?!

Military commitment in Afghanistan over by 2011: Harper

Not really we are scheduled to end our commitment at that time.

Voters force media to include Green Party Leader in Debates...

Battleground voters agree May should be in debates

I am not sure there is enough room for another Carbon Tax party, but we will see.

Summary of Annoucements for the Liberals

- Dione as Rugged Outdoors man to shake his slightly wimpy and weak image.

- Carbon Tax Green Shift Plan while flying across the country.

- $1000 Home retrofit tax credit and $1000 "Green Mortgage" credit .. not sure what that is but I am looking into it.

- Doubling of the Increased Conservative Child Tax Credit (see below)

- Reforming Immigration...somehow?

- Green Jobs for everyone!

Summary of Announcements for the Conservatives

- Warm and Fuzzy Prime Minister hour as PM tries to shake his "control freak" image.

- One reprimand and one suspension of over-eager staffers

- Reduction of Diesel Excise Tax (2C over 4 years)

- Doubling of the existing Child Tax Credit, which was then raised by the Liberals in a strange form of taxation poker.

- Steady hand on the Tiller, anticipated recession and managed to stave it off so far.

So that was the major news for the first week.

Re: Canadian Federal Election - Week 1

Have you read my blogs on the BC Carbon Tax and Carbon Pricing in General? There is some information there. Are you fimiliar with the tax, and the Western Climate Ininitiative Cap and Trade program due for release this fall? Here in BC the Carbon Tax is a consumer tax, while Cap and Trade is coming for business.
