Climate Change from an Alternative Perspective

The state of the climate of climate change.

Hurricane Kyle is moving up the Atlantic coast on it's way to the Maritimes of Canada and because I know that Hurricanes this far North are unusual we are going to have a bunch of people yelling climate change! They will also claim it is happening more frequently as we have had 3 this century. Just to put it in perspective there is nothing unusual in cooler summer years to get these storms, in fact the warmer the season the less likely it is to have a Hurricane this far north.

I am rounding up all the facts and figures for you on hurricanes in Canada, but will give you this as a start.

The Western Climate Initiative Rolls Out its Design Recommendations

Read them Here

I just got the document 10 minutes ago and it is 122 pages so I have some reading to do. As I mentioned previously this is the second carbon pricing system to hit British Columbia this year. Some here still do not know about this, and nobody asked Dion how this effects his Green Shift plan moving forward while he was just here in BC. This plan, once finalized, has already been passed into law using a legislative slight of hand granting the Government pre-approval for implementation here in British Columbia without public consultation.

I will ... Read More »

As discussed previously in the case of Denmark Dion and The Climateers AKA the Liberal Party of Canada have been criss-crossing the country telling people to be more like the European countries that have switched to green taxation policies. One country routinely mentioned is Germany, well I was surfing across the news sites and I found this.

EU's CO2 plans a cost disaster: German industry

Here are my Favourite quotes from the article...

"The EU plans in their current shape will not lead to any more CO2 emissions savings, as those are capped, but bring sky-high new carbon taxes," Read More »

I have started a new blog so I stop polluting this one with off topic posts. I invite all visitors to give it a read,

Illiquid Assets - Hampering Society's Solvency

Here is a Excerpt...

"So much for the bi-partisan approach and any sense of restraint on the part of the Democrats, this bunch of dead weight would try and amend a boxcar to a freight train barrelling down on them. All this says to me is that Democrats are opportunists and exploiters of crisis. "

I have been trying to figure out a way to explain why the Green Taxation plans of the Liberals and the Greens make no sense and I came up with one that not only explains the problems but puts into terms that all Canadians can understand. I decided to make it a beer analogy to basically use the time honoured cliche about us Canadians, that we love our beer!

Ok here is how it will work for you and me the Joe/Jolene Canucks.

You earn a case of beer a month. Currently the Government takes 3 of the bottles for taxes, leaving you with 9 bottles.

You pay 6 bottles for your monthly bills. At the end of the month you are left with 3 bottles of refreshing lager.

Off Topic Post on the US Economy

The news is still breaking so this Blog may be subject to revision!

Regardless of the details the simple fact is that the US Federal Reserve only delayed the inevitable demise of Insurance Monolith AIG for about 30-60 days and all it cost the US taxpayers is a measly 85 Billion dollars. This company has no cash today and they will have no cash next month when the defaults and loans come knocking again.

So now the question is simple, how much money is actually available for the rest of the credit market in the US? You know for things like lines of credit on payroll accounts, capital expenditures and other operating expenses that keep businesses running on a month to month basis. We should be concerned because this will effect the broader economy.

I just have to put this out quickly as the financial markets have a rather large crisis today and I am following the developments. Liberal leader Stephane Dion has been stumping and talking up his economic benefits by referencing European countries with green taxation and citing them as being better able to deal with the turbulent global economic situation. He specifically cited Denmark as a country to emulate. Here is the real story...

Well I was going to review the Green Shift Plan but there is nothing in the Liberal documentation to comment on. Basically they referenced British Columbia's Carbon tax as a model and anyone who has been here before has read my review of that plan. So instead I am going to recap some of the headlines for this week so you can get a feel for Canadian politics in action.

Wow I just watched a video clip where CNN's Campbell Brown and Analyst Jeffery Toobin declared the Global Warming being caused by humans debate was over! Now what was the result? Perhaps I forget to TIVO that debate and the announcement. I am pretty sure this debate is alive outside of mainstream media, I read about it everyday. I am pretty sure the UNFCC does not meet again until 2009 and there is no ratified International Agreement or statement that declares a one world position.

She says even George Bush "gets it".  No wonder his approval rating is so low :)

Watch it here...

Do you think the debate is over?

The race is on: Harper calls election for Oct. 14

The race is on so I will be stepping up my review of the Liberal "Green Shift" platform of total Government policy being based on Climate Change.

Liberal Leader Stephane Dion called the election a "stark choice" between his party and  "most Conservative government in our history"
